Santa Monica lies along the Pacific Coast, on the western edge of Los Angeles County, centered on three miles of wide, sandy beaches. The city is known for its rich culture and contemporary style. It is home to high profile corporate headquarters, entertainment districts, luxury hotels, fine dining, world class shopping and not to mention, beautiful beaches and agreeable weather. Santa Monica was founded in 1875 on the site of a land grant of Don Fracisco Sepulveda. It continued to flourish and to this day is an internationally popular destination. Los Angeles International Airport is only 8 miles south of Santa Monica, and you will find convenient access to major freeways, bus lines and airports. There are many popular places to visit in Santa Monica. The famous Santa Monica Pier offers an amusement park, restaurants, games, shops and spectacular coastline views. The pier is the end point of famed Route 66 and is a National Historical Landmark. In the 1980’s, Santa Monica’s beachfront was redesigned and the oceanfront was refurbished. Be sure to also visit the shops and restaurants along Main Street, Montana Avenue, or the Third Streeet Promanade.
